Black History: Is the history of our struggle still being told?

Has anyone notice that many our youth have no clue of or interest in our HISTORY? Do we still pass down "stony the road we trod" to our children? Or has the "dumb downed" nature of the world we live in today caused us to forget "from whence we came?'" You tell me? In many instances, we're not reading and learning as a family anymore so our history is not being past down from generation to generation. We forget where we've come from which means we don't know where we are at and we don't know where we are going!

‎(context 40's, form the south) I am a product of the Black Church, HBCU, and I family who told our stories - if stories aren't being told it is not the worlds fault, it is ours. Check this verse:

God of our weary years, God of our silent ...tears, Thou Who hast brought us thus far on the way; Thou Who hast by Thy might, led us into the light, Keep us forever in the path, we pray. Lest our feet stray from the places, our God, where we met Thee. Lest our hearts, drunk with the wine of the world, we forget Thee. Shadowed beneath Thy hand, may we forever stand, True to our God, true to our native land.
