The Dating Game...
The Black dating dilemma... What is the reason(s) many Blacks choose to date outside their race? Money, education, incarceration, psychological effects of slavery, etc. Why? Whatever the reason(s) many seem to think that it is a dilemma and perhaps it is. Dating in general is very perplexing to most but in the African American community it seems to unvail various social-psychological factors that hender the process on a more broader level. The opinions of why there is a Black dating dilemma can invoke a variety of emotions and cause much heated discussion. All that know me know that I LOVE being Black and I LOVE THE BLACKS! But yesterday was challenging... Another black man said to me that he doesn't like/date Black women, I seem to attract these kind, but likes me because I don't act Black. Men who say this tend to believe they are giving a compliment when actually being extremely insulting. ?, outside of self loathing, why don't some men like their women? -La Rivers
Hell, I'm @ a point where I'm damn-near over ALL BLACK MEN (no, I DIDN'T stutter: I said ALL).......my generation of men are just atronomically stupid, I don't do younger men, & the rest are too busy trying figure out what they even WANT in a woman.....I'm a half-hug away from permanently dating my white brethren as we speak:-D
You forgot one possible reason: LOVE
Loving being BLACK isn't enuff, it's a STATE OF MIND to be BLACK first! You need to talk to all of your friends like Simeon and tell him that being BLACK is as BEAUTIFUL as having a BLACK WOMAN. Did I say that?
"LOVE has no color..." I prefer to date a sista. However, if I fell in LOVE with a woman who wasn't a sista does that suggest I'm not Black enough? Of course not! Cause, I'm gonna be Black til the day I die! At the end of the day people can date whomever they please.
I LOVE my brothas.... They are who I'd prefer to build a life with.....there's nothing like chocolate, but lately I've found myself looking else were for companionship. I sometime wonder if I could be truly happy with someone who doesn't look like me....if I could freely be my whole self...... I think I'll just become a nun! This dating thing aint easy!
I don't think dating should be about money, color, looks, sex, but about love. Many Blacks have not been taught what a relationship should be and what to expect, so therefore many Black relationships don't last. We have to realize that it takes two people to be in a relationship and that love conquers everything and should be in the center of it all. God= Love and if two people have that everything else will fall into place.
